THIS IS AN OPEN LETTER. I understand the ramifications that I must face as an A-ing for speaking out and continuing to love Hyuna.

I want to clarify that this is my perspective and may not align with everyone’s views.

👋For non-English readers, this is a LONNNNGGG post and will make your nosebleed. Translate it if you want.

Hello, I’ve been an international A-ing, Hyuna’s fanclub name for more than 10 years now. I still am loyal to being an A-ing and understand the recent controversies surrounding Hyuna’s dating life.

CURRENT DATING CONTROVERSY

Recently, there has been concern about the scandal involving the current boyfriend because she’s a popular artist. This has resulted in the shutdown of around 200,000 fan accounts of Hyuna and caused many of her fans to feel indifferent. Although the word “hate” is quite strong, I believe this situation has created a crisis where fans of both artists feel unsafe and uncertain to show support for them. I cannot speak or share anything to defend Junhyung’s side.

To Junhyung: I hope you take good care of HyunA. However, it’s ultimately up to you to defend your relationship since it’s your controversy to make up for. I’m looking forward to seeing more of you and hearing your new music too!

Although I don’t agree with everything that some celebrities have done, I don’t think it’s fair to completely cancel them and ruin their careers. No one is perfect, and if they want to acknowledge their mistakes and show how they’ve grown as a person, I think fans would appreciate seeing that too. While Junhyung and Hyuna may not speak against everything they disagree with, I do know that Hyuna is against the forced breeding of pets and shares sentiments on how idols should be treated better, not feeling forced to diet.

ANTI-FEMINIST ICON

There have been criticisms directed towards HyunA for being labeled as “anti-feminist” due to her relationship with someone who doesn’t seem to care about women. Some fans disagree that she ended Dawn’s relationship and believe that she has caused problems in her idol’s career. For example, during the “How’s This” era, she was hesitant to attend press events after 4minute disbanded but still had to do so. Some people would also like her to hold another press conference to discuss her personal life.

Commenting on someone’s dating life is sensitive since it’s a personal choice. However, as an adult with creative control, she’s entitled to be cautious especially since this will affect her crew, fans, and even herself. Her experiences will be valuable lessons in the long run, so let’s not judge her as a demon. But allow her to grow with wisdom, compassion, and love her in ups and downs.

I don’t believe that she is against feminism, despite some people’s opinions. However, I do think that she naturally exudes sexiness and that it is a part of her image. She is a popular sex symbol. She even quotes, “Marilyn Monroe” in Good Girl MV, and her songs are still included in my workout playlist. I support her not just because of her looks, but because she is also healthy, outspoken, and has been a groundbreaking artist for years, setting her apart from other idols.

HyunA can be labeled as anti-feminist by some people, but as a woman myself, I never thought of her as someone who wants to raise the standards for women without being judged. HyunA just wants everyone to continue living their lives and enjoying it to the fullest. Although some people may call this feminism, she doesn’t bind herself to a single philosophy, and neither should we force ourselves to look at her as a God.

MY A-ING SENTIMENT

To be honest, there were some of HyunA’s music comebacks that didn’t appeal to me. However, I still support her. I miss the “Troublemaker” era, especially the acoustic version of “Player”, which happens to be my favorite because she wrote the lyrics. Whenever I listen to it, I can feel the vibe the duo is giving off, and Mozart genius lyrics. (🎵See the current timeline video from Global Request Show to watch it the acoustic version.)

My favorite PERFORMANCE from HyunA was when she wrote the song, “PLAYER” in Troublemaker

I want to remind people that “TROUBLEMAKER” and “Red” (for me) were HyunA’s prime. AND EVERY COMEBACK, I’LL BE FIGHTING TO SUPPORT HER to become Prime again.

As artists, we face challenges and criticism but must strive for happiness. It’s important to support HyunA despite differences. Artists all have an innate desire to create art, and our support is not the reason they stop. But we have the power to influence them.

What if they don’t create music until they’re senior citizens?

That’ll be a problem for their studio, not for me. Her music will always be one of my phases as well when I was a teenager and for many too.

Her idol timeline taught me how innovative music continues but they are not just artist, they are in the special category of K-pop idols.

As an international fan, I know her dream is to have a concert worldwide. So I don’t want her to be held back (because gurrllll… when you going to the Philippines or do I have to fly to see your exclusive concert… cause gurllll…. while I’m still around and not in a wheelchair… old… Hyuna… my future grandkids… I’ll tell them about you so I go to your concert (if there is one)…

But Hyuna has always continued to work hard and do her best.

If you want to make her one-dimensional, God or demonized, or even for her fans, hate them — AND STILL! That will not do anything but make people stronger.

I hope that Hyuna and all her fans will continue to look forward to her comebacks. We should all be strong and take care of ourselves, just as HyunA does, even during her most difficult times. Life goes on, and we can’t always focus solely on HyunA. We should also live our own lives to the fullest! HyunA will always come back strong for us. So, let’s be the best version of ourselves for her and take care of our health!

As an A-ing, WE LOVE YOU, HYUNA!🍀
